Renewable Insulation

Fabricate a composite renewable insulation material that is economical, environmentally friendly, and recyclable — no more than 1" thick and 8x8" or less in area. Test with probes inside and outside the insulation apparatus.

Balancing environmental impact and cost while still producing effective insulation contributed to more mature design decisions. Our group used cotton pads, paper, and styrofoam sleeves as the primary composite.

I would have made the system 8x8 instead of 8x6 (there were gaps in ours), and reduced tape usage — the tape shrank the perimeter height and let heat escape.
